To ensure the company is learning and leveraging the best practices across a variety of industries and disciplines, P1’s Advisory Board members possess a diverse array of professional backgrounds, expertise, and successes.

William H. HillerBringing more than 25 years of experience in developing and managing rapidly growing companies in the software, hardware and services industries, Mr. Hiller received his Bachelor of Science from the University of South Carolina and completed his executive Business Program at Emory and Harvard Universities.

Mr. Hiller has founded four technology based companies and served as Managing Director of Emerging Business for Arthur Andersen. He assisted in the creation of over 50 companies, including InterLand, and Exceletron. Prior to his tenure at Arthur Andersen he held various senior management positions at Tanasys Technology, Wall Data, Cappella Systems, and Digital Communication Associates.

Additionally, Mr. Hiller has created numerous marketing and operations plans to launch new companies and products, raised venture capital funding, built sales organizations, and managed the acquisition and integration of numerous organizations.

Gary Oden, Ph.D.Professor of Kinesiology and Director of the Paul Vilardi Human Performance Laboratory at Sam Houston State University, Dr. Oden is assisting Alert Notification in pursuit of college and university partnerships. He has served as the Director of American College of Sports Medicine for the State of Texas.

Dr. Oden received his Ph.D. in Physical Education from Texas A&M University, his M.Ed. in Physical Education from the University of Mississippi, and his B.S. Physical Education and Health, University of North Alabama.

Dr. Oden’s numerous professional affiliations include becoming a consultant for Texas Life Insurance Company and Huntsville Memorial Hospital, founder and co-director of Development of the National Institute of Preventative Medicine, and current Board of Directors of the American Heart Association.

Laurence H. Harper, Ph.D.Dr. Harper is the President and CEO of Remote Surveillance Technologies, Inc. and is also Chairman and founder of Global Telematics, Inc., a GPS/AVL design and manufacturing company he founded in 2000.

Dr. Harper was the first in the United States to offer proprietary remote video monitoring, and GPS tracking with integrated alarms for cargo vehicles carrying high-dollar value loads. Dr. Harper’s company has been a leader in working to reduce the fastest growing crime in the United States, cargo theft. His company was granted exclusive authority to report incidents to the California Highway Patrol’s Communication Centers and the Orange County Sheriff’s Control One Communication Center. He developed a state-of-the-art monitoring station in Irvine, California, which is staffed twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week.

Prior to 1992, Dr. Harper was President and founder of Park Pacific Group, Ltd., a hotel management company. Dr. Laurence H. Harper graduated summa cum laude from LaSalle University with a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Psychology. He received his MBA from Madison University and his Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management from Loma Linda University.

Stephen M. YoutsStephen M. Youts is the founder and Managing Partner of the Avondale Partners group of companies. This group includes operations in investment banking advisory and consulting services, proprietary trading, and private equity activities. Through Avondale Capital Partners LLC, Avondale and its partners own substantial or controlling interests in companies in the manufacturing, industrial services, and financial sectors.

Before founding Avondale Partners in 1991, Mr. Youts began his career as a structural design engineer and subsequently spent 18 years as a Wall Street investment banker where he worked as a Managing Director specializing in mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, external growth strategy, and acquisition finance. His Wall Street career included positions with Merrill Lynch Investment Banking, Salomon Brothers (the predecessor of Citicorp Investment Bank), and Chase Bank Investment Banking (the predecessor of JP Morgan Chase Investment Banking).

He has been a start-up entrepreneur five times and has served on the board of directors (for corporations) or as a Managing Member (for LLCs) of over a dozen companies (including three large publicly traded corporations). Additionally he has served on the boards or advisory councils of several not-for-profit organizations. To complement his active business career, Mr. Youts is heavily involved in volunteering and fund-raising for foundations and organizations serving higher education.

Steven J. HealyMr. Healy is a managing partner in the professional services firm, Margolis, Healy & Associates providing safety and security consulting services for universities, colleges, and school districts nationwide.

Steven J. Healy was the Director of Public Safety at Princeton University from 2003 through 2009. He is a Past President of the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA), and twelve year member of its Government Relations Committee. As President of IACLEA, Steven contributed significantly to the national dialogue about campus safety and security in the aftermath of the tragic rampage-shooting incident at Virginia Tech in April 2007.

Prior to Princeton, Mr. Healy was the Chief of Police at Wellesley College in Wellesley, MA, and served as Director of Operations for the Department of Public Safety at Syracuse University. Mr. Healy is a 1984 graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and spent 10 years on active duty with the United States Air Force as a Security Police Officer. He is a frequent speaker at national conferences and seminars on issues related to campus safety and security and serves as a subject-matter expert for the U.S. Departments of Education, Homeland Security, and Justice.

Bill PollardBill Pollard is an executive manager experienced in financial management, change initiatives, and productivity enhancement. He has broad experience in strategic and financial planning, bank negotiations and relations, profitability improvement, cost control programs, team leadership and collaboration, and profit and cash flow management.

Since 1971, Bill has been active in senior management positions and as a consultant with companies in the industrial supply, credit, manufacturing, information technology, advertising, real estate, wholesale, distribution, remediation, and financial services industries. He has had numerous successes in acquiring and managing businesses through significant growth cycles and turnarounds, as well as working with companies through start-up, reorganization, recapitalization, family change, and exit.

Beginning in 1996, Bill was an organizer, and for several years served as a Board member, of a start-up community bank. He participated in the initial capital raise, served on the directors’ loan and finance committees, and helped negotiate and facilitate purchase of another community bank of larger asset size. Bill also serves as the Chief Operating Officer for a New Market Tax Credit fund where he holds responsibility for organizing and managing portfolio investments, raising capital, developing deal flow, research, analysis, due diligence, monitoring and exit strategy.

Phillip McCrury (Legal Counsel)Mr. McCrury is a partner in the law firm of Shannon, Gracey, Ratliff & Miller, L.L.P. in their Fort Worth, Texas offices. His practice involves a wide variety of tax, trust, estate and business transactions.

He received his B.A. in philosophy from the University of Texas in 1966 and graduated from The University of Texas School of Law in 1968. In 1978 he received a Master of Laws in Tax from Southern Methodist University School of Law.

Mr. McCrury is a member of the Texas, Colorado, and Oklahoma bars, and a member of the College of the State Bar of Texas. He is also a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation and the Tarrant County Bar Foundation.

Liza SoydanLiza Soydan founded Visionario, LLC, a business research firm, to bring objective and relevant insight to clients’ strategic decision-making processes. As reflected in Visionario’s “consultative research” approach, Soydan leverages her background as a management consultant in the private, public, and non-profit sectors and experience to benefit a diverse client base, including product manufacturers, professional service providers, and academic institutions, among others.

Soydan’s background also includes: managing academic partnership development and investor relations at a nanotechnology firm; conducting a first-of-its-kind study of the nonprofit response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic on behalf of an international nonprofit organization; and aiding a federal agency in the development of its Strategic Sustainability Performance Plan. She holds an undergraduate degree in Marketing and an MBA.
